CLA Test: 18: Shooting Incident 2

First Part of CLA (Reading)

Patrol  Report: John Smith DOB 15 June 1986 is a banker, who lives at apartment 54 Kent Street. On 3rd March 2013, at 13:50 hours, as he was walking along Bomo Road, he witnessed a shooting incident. He reported the incident to UNPOL station 7 in Grenovia at 14:00 hours. Smith further advised police that the incident had occurred on the corner of Grand street and Bomo Road GR 456321. After 20 minutes a patrol unit was dispatched to the scene. The unit reached the incident at 14:45 hours. 

Situation 1 : On arrival at the scene of the incident the officers observed two men, lying on the ground in a pool of blood. They checked the condition of the men and found one man had no pulse. He had received bullet wounds on the forehead and on his chest. The other victims was still breathing although he was unconscious. He had received bullet wounds on his chest. They immediately contacted the local hospital at GR 453980 and requested and ambulance to transport the man to hospital.  An ambulance arrived at 15:00 hours and transported the victim's to St. Eliza Hospital. They arrived at the hospital after 35 minutes. The patrol team searched the area and recovered three .9mm cartridge cases. They also recovered a black diary and an identity card from the pockets of one victim, with the name Roman Bulin. The identity cart stated the man was from Nigeria. The patrol team sent the found items to the forensic lab for examination..

Situation 2 :  The Officers took the statement of John Smith, the main witness to the accident. John stated that at 13:50 hours he saw a red Nissan sedan car registration number 564787, drive past him at high speed. He noticed two occupants in the car. Approximately 50 meters in front of him he noticed two men in white suits walking fast towards a black Mercedes. Suddenly, the Nissan car braked and one man got out from the car and fired four shots at the two men. Both men fell to the ground and the man with the gun rushed back to the red Nissan. The perpetrators then drove off south across the river bridge towards the town square. The officers requested John to attend a full interview and transported the man to station 7.

Situation 3 : At 1600 hours the hospital authority contacted police station 7 to report that one man was confirmed dead on arrival at the hospital. Two days later at 1000 hours doctors informed police station 7 that the other victim had died 30 minutes ago, whilst undergoing surgery to remove a bullet from his neck. They also provided the following information. They had extracted 2 bullets from the dead victim. They stated that in the back right pocket of one of the men they had found a Bank statement issued on the 1st of  March from the Grenovia Central Bank. The statement recorded that US $ 100,000 was withdrawn from the account number 543233 on 1st March 2013. The police thanked the hospital for the information and told them they would follow the matter up.

Situation 4 : At 1445 hours John Smith was interviewed by Officer George Anderson. He described the suspect shooter from the Nissan car as 1 meter 76 centimeters tall with brown eyes and dark hair and a slender build. At the time of the incident he was wearing a black mask shirt, gray jeans trousers, and black tennis shoes. He had a black mask covering his face. His accomplice in the Nissan car was wearing a light and dark gray hooded sweatshirt and had a black scarf covering the bottom portion of his face.

Second Part of CLA (Report Writing)

Narrative

With reference to the shooting incident that had occurred on the corner of the Grand street and Bomo Road GR 456321, Officer Gunter read the contents of the black diary recovered from the possession of Roman Bulin. From the diary he became aware of the fact that the two men shot dead were both Nigerians who were gunrunning. His accomplice was Paulo Norbert. Police Officer Heinrich Gunter, the investigating officer of the case, then contacted the Nigerian Embassy and informed them about the death of Roman Bulin and Paulo Norbert.

He also became aware of the fact that on 1st March 2013, Bulin and Norbert had paid US$ 100,000 in advance to Gustav and Cameroon for the delivery of 2 Ak 47 rifles, 4 rocket launchers, 500 round of ammunition and 50 hand grenades on 3rd March 2013. Gustav and Cameron are notorious criminals dealing in illegal transactions of drugs, weapons and women. Officer Gunter also became wise as to the residential address and  contact numbers of  Bulin, Norbert , Gustav and Cameroon from the diary. 
Officer Gunter searched the houses of Bulin and Norbert and confiscated huge amount of arms and ammunition. The estimated value of the impounded fire - arms is over US$ 1 million.
Police also raided all the address found in th diary and finally on 10th May, apprehended Gustav and Cameroon from Nada Bar on 19 Patrick Lumumba Street, at grid reference 299750. 
Mr. John Smith was asked to report to the UNPOL station 7 in Grenovia on the same day in order to identify the suspects. From among 20 criminals in the identification parade, Mr. John Smith picked up Gustav and Cameroon as the ones, involved in the fatal shootout. 
Investigation into the case still continuing. 

Dialogue

Oh yes! Now I remember. The incident resulted in the death of the two notorious arms dealers Roman Bulin and Paulo Norbert.
Yes sir.
Please carry on.
Sir, we had recovered a black diary from the possession of Roman Bulin. From the diary I became aware of the fact that both the victims were Nigerian citizens who were gunrunning .
What did you do then?
I then contacted the Nigerian Embassy and informed them about the death of Roman Bulin and Paulo Norbert.
Did you get any lead from the diary?
I learnt that on 1st March 2013, Bulin and Norbert had paid US $ 100,000 in advance to Gustav and Cameroon for the delivery of 2 AK 47 rifles, 4 rocket launchers, 500 rounds of ammunition and 50 hand grenades on 3rd March 2013, the day of the incident.
Did you get any other useful information tn the diary ?
oh yes, sir ! I got the residential address and contact numbers of  Bulin, Norbert, Gustav and Cameroon from the diary.
What action did you take then?
I searched the houses of Bulin and Norbert and confiscated huge amount of arms and ammunition.
What will be the estimated value of confiscated items.?
The estimated value o f the impounded fire-arms is over US $ 1 million.
